Leo Kottke

Acclaimed American Fingerstyle Guitar Virtuoso

Leo Kottke is an acclaimed American acoustic guitarist known for his innovative fingerpicking style, which draws on influences from blues, jazz, and folk music. Born on September 11, 1945, in Athens, Georgia, he grew up in a musically enriched environment that shaped his future career. Kottke released his debut album, "12 String Blues," in 1969, but it was his 1971 album "6- and 12-String Guitar," released on the Takoma label, that catapulted him to prominence. This instrumental album showcased his virtuosic blend of syncopated, polyphonic melodies and became a landmark recording in the guitar world.
