Kukl

Kukl

Icelandic avant-garde punk band

Kukl was an avant-garde Icelandic band that formed in 1983, known for its experimental and gothic sound. The group was part of the anarcho-punk movement and had a significant influence on the Icelandic music scene. Kukl's members included Björk Guðmundsdóttir, who later gained international fame as a solo artist, and Einar Örn Benediktsson, who would also become prominent in the music industry. The band released two albums during their active years: "The Eye" in 1984 and "Holidays In Europe (The Naughty Nought)" in 1986. Kukl disbanded in 1986, but their unique style and contributions to the Icelandic music landscape left a lasting legacy. After Kukl's dissolution, some of its members went on to form The Sugarcubes, which was Björk's first step towards her successful international career.
