Joseph-Nicolas-Pancrace Royer was a French composer and harpsichordist of the Baroque era, born in Turin in 1705 and died in Paris in 1755. He is best known for his harpsichord music, which showcases the instrument's capabilities and reflects the French taste of his time. Royer held various positions throughout his career, including serving as the music master to the children of Louis XV. In 1748, he became the director of the Concert Spirituel, an important public concert series in Paris.
