Josef Rejcha

Josef Rejcha

Josef Rejcha (also known as Joseph Reicha or Josef Reicha) was a Czech composer, cellist, and conductor born on February 12, 1752, in Chudenice, Bohemia, and died on March 5, 1795. He was an uncle to the more widely recognized composer Antonín Rejcha (Reicha). Josef Rejcha's career was primarily centered in Bonn, where he served as the Konzertmeister of the Elector's orchestra. His contributions to classical music include a variety of compositions such as chamber music, concertos, and symphonies. Although not as famous as some of his contemporaries, Rejcha was a respected musician of his time and his works still reflect the classical style that was prevalent during the late 18th century. His compositions for cello were particularly notable and contributed to the repertoire for the instrument. 99, Č.
