Jonathan Harvey

Jonathan Harvey

British contemporary classical composer

Jonathan Harvey was a British composer renowned for his contributions to contemporary classical music. Born on May 3, 1939, in Sutton Coldfield, and passing away on December 4, 2012, Harvey's work often integrated electronic music with traditional orchestral writing, reflecting his interest in both spiritual and technological realms. He studied at St John's College, Cambridge, and later at the University of Glasgow with Alexander Goehr. Harvey also worked closely with the IRCAM in Paris, where he explored the potential of computer music, a collaboration that significantly influenced his compositional approach.
