John Pritchard

Sir John Pritchard was a renowned British conductor known for his work in both symphonic and operatic repertoire. Born on February 5, 1921, in London, he developed an early interest in music and went on to study at the Royal College of Music. Pritchard's career took off after World War II, and he became particularly associated with the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, where he served as Music Director from 1963 to 1978. His international career was extensive, leading him to conduct at major opera houses and orchestras around the world, including the San Francisco Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and the Vienna State Opera.
