Johann Baptist Cramer

Johann Baptist Cramer

Classical Pianist and Composer of the Romantic Era

Johann Baptist Cramer (1771 – 1858) was a German-born British pianist and composer, who established a significant reputation during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Born into a musical family, his father was Wilhelm Cramer, a famous London violinist. Johann Baptist Cramer's most enduring contributions to the music world are his studies for the piano, which have been used by generations of pianists for technical development. His "Studio per il pianoforte," which includes the 84 Études in 4 Books, Op. 50, remains a staple of piano pedagogy.
