Joe Tex

Joe Tex

Soulful American Singer-Songwriter

Joe Tex, born Joseph Arrington Jr. on August 8, 1933, was an American singer and musician who gained fame in the 1960s and 1970s for his brand of Southern soul music. He is known for his charismatic stage presence, storytelling in song, and a series of hit records that included "Hold What You've Got," which reached the top five on the R&B charts in 1965. Joe Tex's style blended elements of soul, R&B, and funk, and he was part of the roster of artists who recorded for Atlantic Records' subsidiary Dial.
