French Conductor and Baroque Music Specialist

Jean-Claude Malgoire was a renowned French conductor and oboist, born on November 25, 1940, in Avignon, France, and passed away on April 14, 2018. He was a prominent figure in the realm of early music and historically informed performance. Malgoire studied at the Paris Conservatory and initially made his mark as an oboist. In 1966, he founded La Grande Écurie et la Chambre du Roy, a period instrument ensemble dedicated to the performance of Baroque and Classical music in a style close to their original sound.
