János Sebestyén

János Sebestyén

Hungarian Classical Organist and Harpsichordist

János Sebestyén was a Hungarian harpsichordist, organist, and pianist, renowned for his interpretations of Baroque music, particularly the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Born on March 2, 1931, in Budapest, he began his musical education at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music under the tutelage of eminent teachers such as Ferenc Gergely and Pál Kadosa. Sebestyén's career was marked by a dedication to both performance and recording. He was one of the first artists in Hungary to record on the harpsichord and played a significant role in popularizing the instrument in the 20th century.
