Janáček Quartet

Janáček Quartet

Czech Classical String Ensemble

The Janáček Quartet was a renowned Czech string quartet that was founded in 1947 in Brno, Czechoslovakia, named after the famous Czech composer Leoš Janáček. The founding members were violinists Jiří Trávníček and Adolf Sýkora, violist Jiří Kratochvíl, and cellist Karel Krafka. The ensemble quickly gained international recognition for their interpretations of Czech music, including works by Janáček, Dvořák, and Smetana, as well as their performances of the broader string quartet repertoire.
