James Williamson

James Williamson

Stooges Guitarist and Punk Rock Pioneer

James Williamson is best known as the guitarist and songwriter for the influential proto-punk band The Stooges. He joined the group in 1970, contributing significantly to their raw and aggressive sound, particularly on their seminal album "Raw Power" (1973), which was co-produced by Iggy Pop and mixed by David Bowie. After The Stooges initially disbanded in the mid-1970s, Williamson briefly worked on a project with Iggy Pop that resulted in the album "Kill City," which was eventually released in 1977 after both artists had moved on to other endeavors.
