Israel Yinon

Israel Yinon

Israeli Conductor and Classical Musician

Israel Yinon was an Israeli conductor known for his dedication to reviving and recording lesser-known works by composers who perished or suffered under the Nazi regime during World War II. Born on January 11, 1956, Yinon made a significant impact in the classical music world through his work with various orchestras across Europe and his commitment to bringing attention to neglected pieces of music history. He was particularly recognized for his interpretations of works by composers such as Viktor Ullmann, Pavel Haas, and Erwin Schulhoff. Throughout his career, Yinon collaborated with numerous orchestras and recorded extensively, contributing to the rediscovery of many compositions that might otherwise have been forgotten. His efforts not only enriched the classical repertoire but also served as a poignant reminder of the cultural losses inflicted by historical tragedies. Israel Yinon passed away on January 29, 2015, after collapsing while conducting a concert in Switzerland.
