Austrian Harpsichordist and Organist

Herbert Tachezi was an Austrian organist, harpsichordist, and musicologist known for his expertise in Baroque music, particularly the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Born on December 25, 1930, in Vienna, Tachezi studied at the Vienna Academy of Music and was a prominent figure in the field of historical performance practice. He was a member of the Concentus Musicus Wien, an ensemble founded by Nikolaus Harnoncourt that focused on performing early music on period instruments. Throughout his career, Tachezi recorded extensively and was recognized for his interpretations of Baroque keyboard music. He also served as a professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. His contributions to classical music were significant, particularly in the realm of organ and harpsichord performance. Herbert Tachezi passed away on November 16, 2016.
