Henry Townsend was a notable American blues musician, who was born on October 27, 1909, in Shelby, Mississippi, and passed away on September 24, 2006. He was a versatile artist known for his skills as a guitarist and pianist, and he was one of the few artists who had recorded in every decade from the 1920s to the 2000s. Townsend moved to St. Louis in his youth, where he became an integral part of the local blues scene. Over his lengthy career, he played with many prominent blues musicians including Sonny Boy Williamson I, Walter Davis, and Robert Johnson.
