Henrik Talalyan

Genrich Talaljan or Henrik Talalyan (1922–1972) was an Armenian violist, brother of cellist Geronty Talalian (1922–2000) and uncle of cellist Aram Talalian (b. 1971), member of Komitas Quartet from 1947 to 1972, professor of the Gnesin Music Academy, People's Artist of the Armenian SSR (1963), and laureate of the USSR State Prize (1965). He graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 1948 after studying with Mikhail Terian. From 1953 to 1972, Genrich had been studying viola, quartet and chamber classes at the Gnesin Music Academy. Talalyan had performed with Mstislav Rostropovich, Rudolf Barshai, Leonid Kogan, Sviatoslav Richter and many other notable musicians.
