Gustav Jenner

Gustav Jenner

German Composer and Pupil of Brahms

Gustav Jenner was a German composer and conductor, born on December 3, 1865, in Keitum on the island of Sylt. He is historically significant for being the only formal composition pupil of Johannes Brahms. Jenner's musical career was influenced heavily by Brahms, which is reflected in his compositions that include chamber music, piano works, and lieder (songs). Although Jenner never achieved the same level of fame as his mentor, his works are appreciated for their craftsmanship and adherence to the Romantic tradition.
