Go West

British pop duo

Go West is a British pop duo formed in 1982 by lead vocalist Peter Cox and guitarist and backup vocalist Richard Drummie. They achieved success during the mid-1980s and early 1990s with hits such as "We Close Our Eyes," "Call Me," and "King of Wishful Thinking," the latter featuring in the soundtrack of the popular film "Pretty Woman." Their self-titled debut album, "Go West," released in 1985, was a critical and commercial success, earning them a BRIT Award for Best British Newcomer in 1986. The band's sound was characterized by its catchy melodies, sophisticated production, and the soulful voice of Cox, which helped them stand out in the crowded field of 80s pop music. Despite changes in popular music trends, Go West continued to record and perform, maintaining a loyal fan base. They are known for their energetic live performances and have participated in various nostalgia tours alongside other acts from their era.
