Gary Wright

Gary Wright

70s Dream Weaver Singer-Songwriter

Gary Wright is an American musician, best known for his work in the 1970s, particularly for his hit songs "Dream Weaver" and "Love Is Alive." Born on April 26, 1943, in Cresskill, New Jersey, Wright's career took off after he moved to the UK and formed the band Spooky Tooth in the late 1960s. After the initial breakup of Spooky Tooth, he pursued a solo career and released "The Dream Weaver" in 1975, which became a substantial commercial success due to its pioneering use of synthesizers as the main instrument backing. The album featured the aforementioned hit singles that have since become classic rock staples. Throughout his career, Wright has released several albums and has collaborated with notable artists including George Harrison. His work is characterized by its blend of rock and pop with elements of progressive rock and spirituality. Wright's influence on synthesizer-based rock music during the 1970s has cemented his place as an important figure in the development of electronic music within the rock genre.
