Fred Neil

Influential American Folk Music Singer-Songwriter

Fred Neil was an influential American folk singer-songwriter and guitarist during the 1960s and early 1970s. Born on March 16, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, Neil was a pivotal figure in the Greenwich Village folk scene and is best known for penning the classic song "Everybody's Talkin'," which became a hit for Harry Nilsson after being featured in the film "Midnight Cowboy." Neil's eponymous album "Fred Neil," released in 1967, is often considered his seminal work, showcasing his deep baritone voice and distinctive finger-picking guitar style. His music was characterized by a bluesy, laid-back feel that influenced a generation of musicians.
