Frantisek Vaclav Mica

Frantisek Vaclav Mica

Czech Classical Composer and Violinist

František Václav Míča was an 18th-century Czech composer and conductor, born on September 6, 1694, in Čáslav, Bohemia, and died on February 15, 1744. He is recognized for his contributions to the development of Czech music during the Baroque era. Míča was particularly influential in his role as the Kapellmeister at the court of Count Franz Anton von Sporck in Klatovy, where he composed various liturgical works and instrumental music. His compositions include masses, litanies, and oratorios, as well as instrumental pieces such as symphonies and concertos. While Míča's work was well-regarded during his lifetime, his music is not widely performed today, and he remains a lesser-known figure in the broader context of Baroque music history.
