Fields

Fields

Fields was a progressive rock band formed in 1971 by keyboardist Graham Field, who was previously a member of the band Rare Bird. The group's sound was characterized by a blend of rock, jazz, and classical influences, with Field's Mellotron playing being a distinctive feature. The lineup also included bassist/vocalist Alan Barry and drummer Andy McCulloch. Despite their potential and musicianship, Fields did not achieve significant commercial success and disbanded after releasing just one self-titled album in 1971. The album "Fields" is known for its melodic compositions and complex arrangements, reflecting the era's progressive rock movement. After their disbandment, the recordings from their unfinished second album were later compiled and released posthumously under various titles such as "Contrasts Urban Roar To Country Peace" and "Feeling Free-the Complete Recordings 1971-1973." These releases helped to cement Fields' legacy as a noteworthy, albeit short-lived, contributor to the progressive rock genre.
