Celebrated American Violinist and Conductor

Felix Slatkin (1915–1963) was an American violinist and conductor renowned for his work in the classical music field. He was a founding member of the Hollywood String Quartet, one of the most esteemed chamber ensembles of its time, which was active from the 1940s to the 1960s. Slatkin served as the concertmaster for 20th Century Fox studios and contributed to numerous film scores. As a conductor, he led various orchestras and recorded extensively, often with Capitol Records. His repertoire included both classical and popular music, and he was known for his versatility and musicianship. Slatkin's recordings received critical acclaim, and he worked with many prominent artists of his era. His legacy continues through his recordings and through his son, Leonard Slatkin, who is also a distinguished conductor.
