Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, commonly known as Felix Mendelssohn, was a German composer, pianist, organist, and conductor of the early Romantic period. Born on February 3, 1809, in Hamburg, he was a musical prodigy who showed exceptional talent from an early age. Mendelssohn's compositions include symphonies, concertos, piano music, chamber music, and choral works. His most famous works include the overture and incidental music for "A Midsummer Night's Dream," the Italian Symphony, the Scottish Symphony, and the Violin Concerto in E minor.
