Baroque French Composer and Organist

François Couperin, often known as Couperin le Grand (the Great) to distinguish him from the other members of his musically talented family, was a French Baroque composer, organist, and harpsichordist. He was born on November 10, 1668, in Paris and died there on September 11, 1733. Couperin held the prestigious position of organist at the Church of Saint-Gervais in Paris and later became the court organist and composer to Louis XIV.
