British Jazz Singer

Popular English female vocalist during the 1920s-40s (Dec. 15, 1906 - Feb. 2001). She started her career in the late 1920s as a chorus girl before joining Jack Hulbert's organization. After three-and-a-half years as a cabaret artist, she joined Jack Hylton's group and sang on some of his records. Her singing debut was in 1932 with Roy Fox's band (Roy Fox & His Orchestra) on "Was That The Human Thing To Do." She also recorded with Charlie Kunz and the Casani Club Orchestra, Ray Noble, Jay Wilbur and Teddy Joyce. She starred in the film "Radio Parade of 1935" and made other films during this period. Starting in 1936, she broadcasted with Geraldo (7) (Geraldo And His Orchestra and Louis Levy (Louis Levy And His Orchestra).
