Eri Klas

Estonian Conductor and Music Director

Eri Klas (7 June 1939 – 26 February 2016) was an Estonian conductor who gained international recognition throughout his career. He worked with numerous orchestras around the world and was particularly known for his interpretations of the works of fellow Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. Klas served as the principal conductor of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and also held positions with other orchestras, including the Finnish National Opera, the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra in Finland. His repertoire was diverse, extending from classical to contemporary music, and he collaborated with many prominent composers and soloists.
