Emerson String Quartet

Emerson String Quartet

Renowned American Chamber Music Ensemble

The Emerson String Quartet, renowned for their superb technical skill and musical insight, is one of the world's leading chamber music ensembles. Formed in 1976, the quartet took its name from the American poet and philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson, reflecting a deep intellectual and artistic connection. The ensemble consists of violinists Eugene Drucker and Philip Setzer, who alternate in the first chair position, violist Lawrence Dutton, and cellist Paul Watkins, who joined the quartet in 2013 following the retirement of the original cellist David Finckel.
