Edmund Pascha

Edmund Pascha

Baroque-Era Moravian Composer and Organist

Edmund Pascha (1714–1772), also known as Edmund of Prešov or Emericus Pászthory, was a Franciscan friar, composer, organist, and choir director of Slovak origin. He is primarily known for his contributions to the music of the Baroque period. Pascha's works include a collection of pastoral masses and carols that reflect the musical traditions of his time and region. His compositions often incorporated elements of Slovak folk music, which he blended with the liturgical music practices of the Catholic Church. One of his notable works is "Harmonia Pastoralis," which includes pastoral masses for Christmas and Easter.
