Duke Pearson

Duke Pearson

Jazz Pianist and Composer

Duke Pearson was an American jazz pianist, composer, and bandleader, prominent in the 1960s and early 1970s. Born Columbus Calvin Pearson Jr. on August 17, 1932, in Atlanta, Georgia, he became known for his distinctive style and contributions to the hard bop and soul jazz genres. Pearson's career took a significant turn when he joined the Blue Note label, where he served not only as a recording artist but also as an A&R man and house producer. In this capacity, he had a hand in shaping the label's sound and produced albums for many other artists.
