Driss El Maloumi is a Moroccan oud player known for his virtuosity and versatility in blending various musical traditions. He has gained international recognition for his ability to bridge the gap between different musical cultures, particularly through his work with the 3MA project, which brings together the stringed instrument traditions of Madagascar, Mali, and Morocco. The project includes Malian kora player Ballaké Sissoko and Madagascan valiha player Rajery, and together they create a unique sound that transcends geographical and cultural boundaries. El Maloumi has also collaborated with early music ensembles, such as Hespèrion XXI led by Jordi Savall, contributing to albums that explore the historical intersections of Eastern and Western music.
