Dr. Hook

Dr. Hook

Classic Rock Band Known for Hits Like Sylvias Mother and Cover of the Rolling Stone

Dr. Hook, originally known as Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show, was an American rock band formed in Union City, New Jersey, in 1968. The band's music spanned several genres, including country rock, soft rock, and blue-eyed soul. Dr. Hook is best known for their hit singles "Sylvia's Mother," "The Cover of 'Rolling Stone'," "A Little Bit More," "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman," and "Sexy Eyes." The band's lineup changed several times over the years, but the core members included Ray Sawyer, who was recognizable by his eye-patch and cowboy hat (he lost his right eye in a car accident), and Dennis Locorriere, the lead vocalist and guitarist.
