Japanese Experimental Rock Band

downy is a post-rock/dark electronic band from Japan. Formed in 2000, the group went on an indefinite hiatus in late 2004, finally returning in 2013. Their name is always spelled with a lower-case d. All their studio albums, as well as some of their singles, are untitled and referred to exclusively in all official materials as "無題" (pronounced "mudai", meaning untitled). To help differentiate between these identically-titled releases, online shops will often attach a description to the "無題" name (ex: "第四作品集無題", meaning 4th Untitled Album or "映像作品集無題" meaning Untitled Video Album), though these additions are not part of the band's official naming scheme and should not be reproduced in the discogs database. It should also be noted that neither the band, their label, the Japanese press, nor Japanese shops ever refer to these releases as though they were self-titled. While it may be a westerner's instinct to title an untitled album with the artist's name, it is not Japanese practice to do so.
