Doug Sahm

Doug Sahm

Texas Music Legend and Genre-Crossing Artist

Doug Sahm was a versatile and influential American musician known for his ability to blend a variety of genres including Tex-Mex, country, blues, and rock and roll. Born on November 6, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas, Sahm was a child prodigy who played steel guitar and appeared on radio at the age of five. He rose to prominence in the 1960s as the leader of the Sir Douglas Quintet, a band that achieved success with hits like "She's About a Mover" and "Mendocino," which cleverly fused British Invasion rock with Texan roots music.
