Dave Van Ronk

Dave Van Ronk

Folk Music Icon and Blues Pioneer

Dave Van Ronk was an American folk singer, songwriter, and guitarist, often associated with the Greenwich Village music scene in New York City. Born on June 30, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York, he became an influential figure in the American folk music revival of the 1950s and 1960s. Known for his gruff voice and mastery of the acoustic guitar, Van Ronk was sometimes referred to as the "Mayor of MacDougal Street," which is also the title of his posthumously published memoir.
