Cold Specks is the stage name of Ladan Hussein, a Canadian singer-songwriter whose music is often described as "doom soul." Her sound blends deep gospel and soul influences with a dark, brooding intensity. She first came to prominence with her 2012 debut album "I Predict A Graceful Expulsion," which garnered critical acclaim and was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize, an award given to the best full-length Canadian album based on artistic merit. Following her debut, Cold Specks released "Neuroplasticity" in 2014, which continued to showcase her unique blend of sounds and further established her as an artist with a distinct voice in the indie music scene. In 2017, she released "Fool's Paradise," which explored her Somali heritage and incorporated more personal themes into her work. Throughout her career, Cold Specks has been known for her powerful vocals and evocative songwriting.
