Clarence Carter is an American R&B and soul singer, musician, and record producer. Born on January 14, 1936, in Montgomery, Alabama, he is known for his distinctive baritone voice and skilled guitar playing. Despite being blind from birth, Carter's musical talents were evident from a young age. He achieved considerable success during the 1960s and 1970s with hits such as "Slip Away" and "Patches," the latter of which won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song in 1971.
