Cipriano De Rore

Renaissance Franco-Flemish Composer and Madrigalist

Cipriano de Rore was a Franco-Flemish composer of the Renaissance, known for his significant contributions to the development of the madrigal and for his work in the Venetian School. Born in 1515 or 1516 in Ronse, present-day Belgium, De Rore became one of the most prominent composers in Italy during the mid-16th century. He served as maestro di cappella at the court of Ferrara, one of the leading centers for musical innovation, and later held a similar position in Parma.
