Carlo Alfredo Piatti (1822–1901) was a renowned Italian cellist, composer, and teacher, celebrated for his virtuosity and contribution to cello repertoire. Born in Bergamo, he began his musical studies at a young age and quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent. Piatti performed across Europe, captivating audiences with his technical prowess and expressive playing. As a composer, he is best known for his "12 Caprices for Solo Cello," which remain a staple in the advanced cello repertoire for their technical demands and musicality.
