Buddy Knox

Buddy Knox

Rockabilly Pioneer and Party Doll Hitmaker

Buddy Knox was an American singer and songwriter, best known for his 1957 rock hit "Party Doll" which he wrote and performed. Born on July 20, 1933, in Happy, Texas, Knox became one of the early pioneers of rockabilly music. His career took off after he and his band, the Rhythm Orchids, recorded "Party Doll" at Norman Petty's studio in Clovis, New Mexico—the same studio used by Buddy Holly. The song became a huge success, reaching number one on the Billboard charts.
