Blitzen Trapper

Blitzen Trapper

Indie Folk-Rock Band from Portland

Blitzen Trapper is an American rock band formed in Portland, Oregon, in 2000. The group's music combines elements of folk, country, and rock, creating a distinctive sound that has garnered them a dedicated following. The band consists of Eric Earley (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Erik Menteer (guitar, keyboard), Brian Adrian Koch (drums, vocals), Michael Van Pelt (bass), and Marty Marquis (guitar, keyboards, vocals). They gained wider recognition with the release of their third album "Wild Mountain Nation" in 2007. This album caught the attention of critics and helped them secure a record deal with Sub Pop for their subsequent albums. Their fifth album "Destroyer of the Void" was released in 2010 and showcased a more expansive sound with complex arrangements and harmonies. Blitzen Trapper continued to evolve their style and narrative storytelling with the release of "Wild and Reckless" in 2017, which was partly inspired by a stage production of the same name that the band developed. Throughout their career, Blitzen Trapper has been known for their energetic live performances and their commitment to exploring different musical landscapes while maintaining their rootsy core.
