Bill Perkins

Bill Perkins was an American jazz saxophonist, flutist, and clarinetist known for his versatility and smooth style. Born on July 22, 1924, in San Francisco, California, Perkins became an influential figure in the West Coast jazz movement of the 1950s. He played with a number of prominent bands and artists throughout his career, including Woody Herman's band, the Stan Kenton Orchestra, and The Tonight Show Band. Perkins was also a member of the collaborative group Supersax, which played orchestrated Charlie Parker solos. His ability to play multiple reed instruments with great proficiency made him a sought-after session musician for both jazz and popular music recordings. Bill Perkins passed away on August 9, 2003, leaving behind a legacy as a skilled performer who contributed to the rich tapestry of American jazz music.
