Beniamino Gigli

Beniamino Gigli

Italian Operatic Tenor

Beniamino Gigli (1890–1957) was an Italian tenor, renowned for his operatic and song performances during the first half of the 20th century. His career began after he won an international singing competition in Parma in 1914, which led to his debut at the Teatro Sociale in Rovigo as Enzo in Amilcare Ponchielli's "La Gioconda." Gigli's voice was characterized by its beauty, warmth, and expressive phrasing, which made him one of the most famous tenors of his generation.
