Arzachel

Arzachel

British Psychedelic Rock Band

Arzachel was a British psychedelic rock band that formed in 1968 and was known for its self-titled album "Arzachel," which is their only official release. The band consisted of Steve Hillage (guitar, vocals), Dave Stewart (organ), Clive Brooks (drums), and Mont Campbell (bass, vocals). They were originally known as Uriel, but due to contractual issues, they changed their name to Arzachel for the album's release. The members of Arzachel later achieved greater recognition in other progressive rock bands: Steve Hillage became a prominent solo artist and a member of Gong, Dave Stewart was involved with Egg, Hatfield and the North, and National Health, while Clive Brooks joined Egg alongside Stewart. Mont Campbell also continued with Egg and later moved into composing classical music. The Arzachel album has since become a cult classic among psychedelic and progressive rock enthusiasts.
