Arvid Jansons (1914–1984) was a distinguished Latvian conductor, known for his work in the Soviet Union. He was the father of the renowned conductor Mariss Jansons. Arvid's career was marked by his tenure with various orchestras throughout the Soviet Union, including the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra where he served as an assistant conductor to Yevgeny Mravinsky.
