Arch Enemy is a Swedish melodic death metal band, renowned for their aggressive yet melodic style of music. The band was formed in 1995 by guitarist Michael Amott, who had previously played in influential metal bands such as Carcass and Spiritual Beggars. Arch Enemy gained significant attention with the release of their third album, "Burning Bridges" in 1999, and further solidified their reputation in the metal scene with the addition of vocalist Angela Gossow in 2000, who replaced original singer Johan Liiva. Gossow's tenure with the band marked a period of rising international fame, beginning with the album "Wages of Sin" (2001).
