Antemasque

Antemasque

Experimental Rock Supergroup

Antemasque is an American rock band formed in 2014 by former members of the progressive rock group The Mars Volta, Omar Rodríguez-López (guitar) and Cedric Bixler-Zavala (vocals). They were joined by Flea, the bassist from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, on their debut album, though he was not a permanent member of the band. Drummer Dave Elitch, also formerly of The Mars Volta, completed the lineup for their initial recordings and performances. Antemasque's sound is characterized by a more straightforward rock approach compared to the complex structures and experimental nature of The Mars Volta. Their self-titled debut album, "Antemasque," was released in 2014 and marked a new musical direction for Rodríguez-López and Bixler-Zavala, showcasing a blend of alternative rock with punk influences. The band's formation followed the breakup of The Mars Volta in 2013 and provided an outlet for the members to explore different musical avenues.
