Irish Folk Musician and Songwriter

Andy Irvine is a highly respected Irish folk musician, singer-songwriter, and a founding member of several influential bands. Born on June 14, 1942, in London to Irish parents, Irvine developed a deep love for traditional Irish music early in his life. He is known for his skillful playing of the mandolin and bouzouki as well as his distinctive singing voice. Throughout his career, he has been a member of seminal traditional Irish groups such as Sweeney's Men in the late 1960s and Planxty in the 1970s, both of which were pivotal in the revival of traditional Irish music.
