Alban Berg Quartett

Alban Berg Quartett

Austrian String Quartet

The Alban Berg Quartett was a renowned string quartet that was founded in Vienna, Austria, in 1970. Named after the famous composer Alban Berg, the quartet quickly established itself as one of the premier chamber music ensembles in the world. The group was known for its deep musicality, technical precision, and a broad repertoire that ranged from classical to contemporary works. The members of the quartet were originally violinists Günter Pichler and Klaus Maetzl, violist Thomas Kakuska, and cellist Valentin Erben. Over the years, there were changes in personnel, but the ensemble maintained a consistent level of excellence.
