Al Wilson

Al Wilson

Soul Singer and Songwriter

Al Wilson was an American soul singer known for his smooth vocal style and his hits during the late 1960s and 1970s. Born on June 19, 1939, in Meridian, Mississippi, Wilson's most famous song is "Show and Tell," which was a Number One hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1974. Before his solo success, he played with Johnny Harris's band in the mid-1960s and also worked with producer Johnny Rivers. Wilson released several albums throughout his career, including "Searching For The Dolphins" in 1968, which contained his cover of The Beatles' "The Snake." His music often blended soul with elements of pop and rock, and he continued to perform and record music until his death on April 21, 2008. Wilson's contributions to the soul genre have been celebrated by fans and peers alike, securing him a place in the annals of American music history.
